Workout Songs!

Well, Ladies, like each one of us has had to do at one time or another, it's time that little ol' Caitie Rose sheds some poundage. Usually I don't reveal too much about my personal life on this blog, but I figure that maybe if I tell you gals, it will give me some accountability. I seem to find ways to tell myself things like, "Hey! Sure you ate 19 slices of pizza! But eating them had to have burned SOME calories!" Or, "Uncooked cookie dough has half the calories because calories have to be warm to count." Anyway, it's been a long time coming, but I'd appreciate your prayers! You don't have to worry so much about me staying away from angry men at the gas station (see number 1 of the last post), it's the Pringles at that gas station that really give me trouble!

FYI, this blog is not going to become a weight-loss blog, mostly because I'd have to list my starting weight and I won't do that for two reasons; (1) a lady might never reveal her age, but she would intentionally doctor medical records to avoid revealing her weight and (2) I don't think this computer could handle that many digits. LOL

Anyway, what I want to give you today is a trusty old Top 10 List! The Top 10 songs I like to listen to when I'm running (aka making the neighbor kids scream).

Here we go!

10. Blu Cantrell - "Breathe"
This song just has a determined kind of way about it.. I like the beat too. I remember when I was in the dorms last year I found this song at about 2am, put my earphones in and was listening to it on full blast. I had it on repeat and when I got up to go to the bathroom I put the earphones down. As I was in the little girls room I heard my earphones drop off the bed and come loose from my laptop, letting Blu's voice loose and hearing her song echo through my room and, I'm sure, my neighbors'. It was a fast pee.

9. Scissor Sisters - "Take Your Mama Out"
Just watch the video.. Craziest thing I've ever seen!

8. Celine Dion - "I Drove All Night"
Celine Dion facinates me.. I know she's Canadian, but there's something a bit more alien about her. LOL I don't know if it's the fact that she has an elderly husband or a son with hair longer than I've ever had.. I just can't figure her out! But I do love this song! Gets your booty a shakin'!

7. Jennifer Lopez - "Waiting for Tonight"
Speaking of Celine Dion, I remember when Selena died (you'll see the connection in a second).. My friends Ashley and Emily and I were in our middle school office and Emily told us. I thought, actually, that she was talking about Celine Dion and went around telling everyone that Celine Dion passed away. (Sigh) Story of my life. LOL

6. Destiny's Child - Survivor
This version is a bit rockier. It's kind of a tough song but in the midst of a tough run (no, not a hill.. I mean when I run by Subway), this just might kick my butt into high gear!

5. Okay Go - "Here It Goes Again"
Best music video ever and, hey! Are those treadmills? Well, watching it is practically working out! LOL

4. Mika - "Relax"
I listen to Mika a lot when I clean, workout, etc. Great beats and the songs are fun to sing along to! Their album, "Life in Cartoon Motion" is a must-have for me!

3. Kym Mazelle - "Young Hearts Run Free"
This was in the movie, Romeo and Juliet, one of my favorite soundtracks! This is kind of a disco mix and another shake-your-booty tune!

2. Daniel Bedingfield - "Gotta Get Thru This"
When I was a teenager and dating my Irish boyfriend, this song would pull me through the despair of being away from my one true love, the light of my life, the man of my dreams. Ironically, it also helped when I was trying to explain why I wanted to break up.. LOL

1. Olivia Newton-John - "Let's Get Physical"
Just kidding!! Ironically, this song makes me want to do anything but get physical..

7 Quick Takes - My First!!

1. Last night my life was threatened at a gas station. Yep. I was in line to pay and this guy started harrassing the clerk. He was yelling at her and making all kinds of a scene. Finally, I said, "Oh shut up! Just let the girl do her job!" He turned around real slowly and said, "Oh no, you di'int just say that to me! I am so sick of these white b*tches all up in a black man's bid'ness!" Then he expressed how much he wanted to spit in my face and walked away saying, ".. just wanna KILL you!" Needless to say, this white b*tch didn't need to visit the ladies room when she got home, as she had already peed her pants. LOL! It was the scariest moment of my life. I will say, I kept my cool and looked totally calm (despite my internal organs going through shut-down), but I'm glad I got outta there alive!

2. Last weekend I sang at my friend Brooke's wedding. It was the first wedding I have ever sang for and I was very nervous. I sang a song called, "Feels like Home" and got so many compliments, I lost count after 100 (yes, I was counting)! One lady said, "You know, normally when I see there's gonna be a wedding soloist I think, 'Oh boy.. here we go..', but when you started singing, I was like, 'Woa!' Afterwards I wanted to clap and ask for a cocktail before you sang another one!" LOL I think I will record the song and post it here soon.

3. I started teaching 6th grade Sunday School at a local parish in Indy. It's been going so well and I'm really pleased with the class. They are a blast and pretty well-behaved. Some of the other teachers are so serious.. I think they like that they are in a position of "power" with the kids. I find that incredibly annoying. You're a Sunday School teacher, not Secretary of Education.. Take it down a notch! LOL

4. I started nannying again. Don't worry. This family is not crazy. Though we've had some minor issues with attitude from the kids, they are a darling family. They're Jewish, which I love and the 12 year old is about to make her bat mitzvah. I'm very excited to see that! Their home is beautiful.. Over 30 rooms and 10 bathrooms.. It's pretty sick. People always ask me, "How do you find these people?" And I tell them, "Care.com my friend, Care.com."

5. My mom's side of the family is coming into Lafayette tonight. Brian (my 18 year old brother) has his senior night tonight and John (my 17 year old brother) has been starting lately. Their team is doing incredibly well and I'm so excited to see them play! Whenever our whole family is there, we yell things to my brothers to embarrass them.. "Brian! You have a wedgie! It's a big one! We can all see your wedgie, Brian!" "John!! John!! You forgot your blankie in the car! Do you need it!? John!?" Brian gets more annoyed than John so we call out Brian's name more and then John gets mad we're not teasing him as much.. Ah, the life of a Beardmore kid. LOL

6. Just watched this show on Hulu.com last night.. It's called "The Middle" and it stars Patricia Heaton, from "Everybody Loves Raymond". If you're not gonna watch it all, just watch the part about the parent-teacher conference from 9:55 to 10:25. I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself (though that came later.. See #1). Might be the funniest thing I've ever seen. :)

7. I'm putting together a little Irish band again.. I'll keep you posted.

Adios!
